Java is already installed, so you will be able to rotate the anaesthetic structures in Detail View. There may be a short delay while the Jmol applet downloads for the first time.
You can use this Test Page to check that the applet is working.
Installing Java will enable you to download the Jmol applet to interactively rotate the anaesthetic structures & their electrostaic potential surfaces. If you can't install Java, then static images will be shown instead. Since molecular fields are three-dimensional properties, it is worthwhile installing Java if you can!
Java for Windows & Linux
The Java plug-in for Windows & Linux Systems can be downloaded from www.java.com. After installing, please restart your web browser and reload the Home Page to ensure that the newly installed plug-in is detected.
Java for Mac Os X
Apple Macintosh systems up to 10.6.x (Snow Leopard) have Java installed by default.
With 10.7.x (Lion) upwards, Java is not automatically installed. The Java plug-in can be downloaded from Apple Inc. by opening this test page at www.java.com and clicking on the "Missing Plug-In" link. After installing, please restart your web browser and reload the Home Page to ensure that the newly installed plug-in is detected.
Java for Mobile Devices
Please go to www.java.com to see if Java is available for your device. Unfortunately, Java is not available for most mobile systems, so static images of the anaesthetic structures & electrostatic potential surfaces will be shown.
You can test your Java installation here. This page will load the Jmol applet and display an anaesthetic conformer, if everything is working!
